ABOUT US
A story of tradition, innovation, and family passion since the early 20th century.
At the beginning of the 20th century, the De Lucca and Galerato families arrived in Uruguay from Italy. Before World War II, they began cultivating vines in the “El Colorado” area, one of Uruguay's oldest wine-growing regions, located in the Canelones department. This region is characterized by calcareous and clay soils and its maritime influence. There, they started producing wine on a small scale for their own consumption and for sale within the local community.
In 1945, commercial wine production and sales began, achieving productive and commercial growth by 1950. The constant work of the De Lucca family, applying a futuristic vision, led to the development of fine wine production, which was distributed throughout the country in the 1960s.
In 1984, the reconversion of vineyards in Uruguay began. Reinaldo De Lucca, the company's current director, was a pioneer in incorporating the integrated production system into viticulture during this period, leading this reconversion process in the country.
Currently, the winery is led by the third and fourth generations of winemakers, committed to creating wines with their own identity.
